Telling the Facts Doesn’t Work

Facts are fabulous. But, when you repeat the facts, what response do you get in the meetings? People would tell:

We all know that…
What’s new about it?

or sometimes they are silent. They don’t want to offend you!
On many occasions stating the facts helps in setting the context and that is not enough to change the game.
So, in addition to stating the facts, CREATE A VISION FOR NEW POSSIBILITIES.

To do that:

  • Create a compelling vision for your project
  • Share your vision with passion and enthusiasm
  • Generate opportunities for your audience in the new vision
  • Give a specific call to action

For example:

If you are looking for a job, don’t just tell the interviewer what all you have done. You are much more!

In addition, tell them what all you can do. Create a new vision for the company or your department. Tell them how would you help in making that happen.

If you are approaching a client, show her how her life would be if you help. Give her a roadmap and she will be after you to sign up.

If it’s a meeting inside the company, show your team/colleagues/BOD what they are afraid of visualizing. Let them know what opportunities that bring for each stakeholder and let them act.

Go, change the game!
